It was just before 10 pm on a Wednesday and though we were promised a dry day, it had not given up on pouring! Ray and me were seated there going over the footy, waiting for the 6th call of the day to arrive. In due time we received the phone call from a lady on a company expedition who had gone to the Esso filling station in Lane Ends and filled the wrong fuel in a diesel grey Honda Ridgeline rental. The unfortunate thing was quite irritated apparently, stating "I cannot believe that I have messed up the car! I'm just so familiar with putting petrol in my petrol car I totally did not remember that I was using a diesel!" We advised her to take it easy and not to worry, plus that these things regrettably often happen. She was able to get the car into a protected area and, seeing that it was only a short distance off from our van, we could get to the lady almost instantly. The wrong fuel was removed and she was able to once again go back to the hotel she was lodging at. Despite the fact that we got really drenched, it was all worth it to watch her drive off contented and much less concerned. Yet another job in North Yorkshire done well in my books!

Water Contamination or AdBlue Contamination
Water contaminated fuel, irrespective of whether it's unleaded or diesel, is without question a serious matter to take care of in a vehicle - particularly in modern day common-rail engines.
Water or AdBlue in petrol or diesel can easily bring about idling difficulties, irregular running, excessive smoke and, if it's not remedied properly, quite possibly damaged injectors. Having water in petrol is quicker to drain compared to water in diesel - mostly due to the fact that diesel is an oil. In spite of this we can take care of both situations rather simply.
Remember however that whenever the vehicle was started with the water contamination it will probably require a new fuel filter fitted seeing that the old one will probably be totally water-logged and ineffective.
Marine Fuel Drains
If you find you've got the incorrect fuel, or perhaps contaminated fuel (most usually water contamination or old fuel) in a boat we can certainly get it out. Providing the boat is either dry-docked, or situated near to a vehicle parking spot we are able to gain access to the storage and remove the fuel. We've carried out many fuel drains at piers and boatyards nationwide.
Wrong Fuel in Car in BD22 Postcode - Lane Ends Misfueling
Just had a fantastic night's uninterrupted sleep! 7:00 in the morning on a rainy Saturday and I was off to help an older sweetheart after she had put the wrong fuel in her diesel maroon Lexus LFA in Lane Ends. I had been told she had left the filling station forecourt and pulled up along a rural road along the way to pay a visit to her godchildren. I plugged the location straight into the Satnav and got there within an hour or so. I turned up at the destination and extracted the wrong fuel from the vehicle. Whilst I was doing it she said, "I am getting relatively forgetful in my old age and did not remember about the vehicle using diesel seeing that I'd just purchased it a few days ago when my old one, which I'd had for in excess of 25 years, eventually stopped working". I completed the drain and she gave me a toffee and thanked me for my work. What a pleasant North Yorkshire woman!

- How is the car responding? There are some very common misfuel symptoms which can be a good indicator of wrong fuel:
- Loss of engine power – can feel like the car has run out of fuel
- A lot of smoke (more than usual)
- Engine coughing or starting to splutter
- Won’t start – or keeps stalling.
- Look at your fuel receipt. It will state clearly if you filled up with diesel or unleaded. If you don’t have the receipt, you can often return to the petrol station where you filled up and give them the date and time (and pump) where you refueled and they will often be able to give you a VA receipt.
